C Drama List Part 2

So now this list needs new page because I have been marathoning several C dramas in the beginning of this year. The booming of streaming sites and the better availability of internet connection make me almost forget the joy of marathoning dramas. The advantage of marathoning instead of watching while airing is that it can maintain the emotional momentum (what is that pohonphee?!). Sometimes, it gives a bubble like I am living the main character's life, riding the journey along with her/him, and then the outside world (my real world hah) ceases to exist. Which is the point of watching drama for me as way of escapism.

I observe so many time travels in C drama lately. Has time travel ban been lifted up? But one is removed, other is coming. There's new ban about flowery male character in C drama. I'm curious about how that will pan out. I mean restriction can damp down growth and creativity, but sometimes restriction and limitation can push people to the limit so it makes them thinking outside the box with their limited resources and work out the way.

A Chance Meeting/Because of Love
Country: China
Released year: 2022
Episode: 30 episodes
Genre: Romance, melodrama
Actors: Li Xiao Ran, Wallace Chung
Rating: 4/5
sPlotlight:
This is so much alike My Sunshine. First love, university couple, separated because of guilty of the parents couple, get back together again, and so on, and so on. But I like My Sunshine alot and couple get back together again is one of my favorite drama trope. I was surprise that Wallace Chung played a doctor for the 1st time in this drama, he said in one of the interview. What? On his long drama list and everlasting actor idol career, never been once playing a doctor? I thought doctor is one profession that got overexposure in dramaland.

Loving, Never Forgetting
Country: China
Released year: 2014
Episode: 34 episodes
Genre: Romance, melodrama
Actors: Jerry Yan, Tong Liya
Rating: 4/5
sPlotlight:
Pondering why I like this kind of drama 😏 Despite of jerk ML, hapless FL, the cliché plotline that has been used over and over again (Autumn Concerto, A Chance Meeting). This is my subconscious telling me something right? LOL. Jerry Yan looks constipated most of the time, but he is so good in doing smooches. LOL I forgive anything else. Tong Liya's acting seems so green. But at the later part of the drama, I think both of them are getting comfortable around each other, it shows in their acting. It improves by lot. At the end of drama, I search for other C dramas with the same set up and plotline in general. I know, I am crazy. The gloom and the doom for me ha ha ha

The Autumn Ballad
Country: China
Released year: 2022
Episode: 34 episodes
Genre: Historical, Romance drama
Actors: Jeremy Tsui, Qiao Xin, Liu Ruilin
Rating: 4/5
sPlotlight:
This drama is so good, I wanted to give it 5/5 rating, until the unnecessary plot twist and noble idiocy at the last episodes. It seems like the writer wanted to emphasize that a marriage is not what every heroine in romance drama want as conclusion of their happy ending romance. I get eet. But this is not how to do it writer! It feels so rushed and convoluted. All the women are looking so pretty even the old characters. This has one of the most compelling female lead character ever in C drama. Sometimes she is unpleasant but because of that (we don't live to please everybody) I like her. And how supportive Liang Yi is, just so endearing. He loves her, he teaches and lets her grow, then lets her free... But this kind male character doesn't exist IRL, believe me, real life experience. Ha ha ha the writer must be a woman.

Unforgettable Love
Country: China
Released year: 2021
Episode: 24 episodes
Genre: Romance comedy
Actors: Miles Wei, Hu Yi Xuan
Rating: 4/5
sPlotlight:
Swear God, Miles Wei looks like mature Park Bo-geum. This is one of dramas with single father who struggles raising his adorable kid alone (e.i Ye Hua in Three Miles of Peach Blossom) that you cannot resist. This is our soft spot, drama writer can always attack. Ha ha ha

Win The Future
Country: China
Released year: 2021
Episode: 40 episodes
Genre: Business, Office Romance drama
Actors: Chen Kun, Xin Zhi Lei
Rating: 4/5
sPlotlight:
I like this because the OTP is so playful. The chemistry is up the chart. So you know what kind of romance I tune in to, ha, ha, ha...The romance is not the central point of the story but the end result ha ha ha Love it. And people also complain about how dislikeable the female lead is like the female lead in The Autumn Ballad, this just shows the preference of public for female character in Asian dramas. You know that kind of character, the type that tries to please everybody, strong yet need to be saved every single times, successful career woman and spotless homemaker, sexy female fatale yet still look motherly (ha ha ha seriously how to do that? Can I just become one of the type and still be acceptable?)

It starts from this 1
