Ryu Seok-won (류석원): First Moment To Breakup

Are you a fan of Standing Egg? Are you one of those who stats to follow them because of the beautiful creature name Clover beside Standing Egg’s enchanting music? Oh then welcome to the club :D Many probably have understood the concept of Standing Egg. Some vocalists have come and gone for their singles and albums, time passed, season changed, but where uri Clover goes? Hmmm… As much as I love Standing Egg 2’s voice, sometimes I wish he sings more, instead of having guest vocalists, but still miss me some Clover :D I knew something happened *suspicious look* so he couldn’t make more appearances, though many fans requested him when being asked whom they liked to be guest vocalist for next songs. Hey whose fault was that?? I just knew Clover, Ryu Seok-won’s stage name was up on other project, whatever it was, so they couldn’t invite him anymore *sad face*. But that’s it, what I knew. And I was sitting, bad-shit curious, pondering how much talent and…… pretty have been wasted.

And tada, he’s back! Uri beautiful baby, Ryu Seok-won >.<
His mini album titled First Moment to Break Up, carries folk as its genre. He has picked an awesome title song Grown Up. Watching its MV simply gives me delight, grinning from ear-to-ear, or  it is me who fangirling. Ha ha It is pretty much describing the album in overall with a simple, easy listening music, as much as I’m expecting from him. I just realized he has been released all songs from this mini album since early this year, one by one, though not yet in format mini album till now. My bad, I didn’t know.  Here for the make-up:

The title song, 어른스럽게 (Grown Up):

You can read what the song is all about from the video description. And you can find another video with English hardsub released on Ryu Seok-won’s Youtube channel, itself. Nice strategy. But more close-up shots of his fingers please! His hands are just gorgeous. Heh.

Finally somebody I can call Oppaaaaa *Oppa Pout Wiggles* ha ha  :3

It’s a fresh of breath air to have a soloist with folk music as a music genre. Many soloists in K music scene that I follow fall into ballad singer or pop/electro pop or Hip Hop genre if scratch applied. Though it seem like K-indie oversaturated with café-lounge music, and his type of music easily goes straight into one if not tended carefully, I have no problem since that one of my favorite music genre.( I wonder if café-lounge music is popular in Korea because Korean thinks fancy about hanging-out at café for expensive coffee drink). I understand if other people do have a problem, since this kind of music rarely offers breakthrough lyric or fascinating musical performance. You will easily pass one song to another or one music performance to another if you are not interested on the singer. You can easily listen to it for hours, but then can’t recognize it next time. I tell you the ability to play instrument is not enough, though essential in this highly completive day and age. But no-body has to play music like Jambinai, to make me stay tune. I assure you. I’m easy on this. I’m not music critique, I’m music fan. :D

Though I can’t say this album is in whoa great kind of stage, I can say this mini album has grown up on me. Yeah Grown-up is great song, the rest is okay, nothing like filler songs which is my bottom line. I was listening to it when I was biking, and I have a good biking time. See, this what I search for from this kind of music. And Ryu Seok-won (let’s start to call him with this, and leave Clover behind the way he wishes to be) got the whole package, he’s writing his own song, his voice is Good (Look how effortless he sings, tsk, tsk, tsk, envy), he plays instrument, and he’s beautiful. As shallow as it sounds, the fact that he is as beautiful as that, helps, really, not going to lie here. Yeah beauty is universal, genderless, no definite rule yet as sure as………..gravitation force (hah :P) and I’m a fan.

I like how his PR promotes him, say what to straight-forward and no pretence promotion. Written right on cover of his first mini album: 29 years, self-written singer, acoustic guitar, singer-songwriter, natural, sweet (hah, lol) and without such a grandeurized self portrait. He’s prettier when he sings and performs, word no need, far more overly photo-shopped picture. I’m one of who can’t careless about my favorite artist private life, I think if he really writes his own songs, his songs will speak louder about his character than words printed on cover album. Just  sayin’

It will be our lost if a talented singer like him doesn’t get much exposure. No matter how talented a musician without good promotion, chances to make his music to be listened to wider audiences, all is nothing. So yo, yo, yo, his fans out there, start to share his videos, hit the replay button, subscribe to his channel, and buy his songs, available at iTunes (here you go Apple fans). May him be prosperous with ideas to produce more songs and have a long live music career  Let’s fangirling begin!

Thanks To:
  seokwon Ryu for the videos

He's not an idol, mind you :p but what's an idol anyway :D I wish he has a PR team like Standing Egg has which I absolutely love (Egg-nim no.1 OTL). Okay I stop myself to connect him with Standing Egg. Hah
