This is definitely slow burning drama for me. It didn't make me staying up all night. I didn't make me feeling anxious waiting every episode to be aired every week. I could easily say "okay, today just stop at this episode" * slightly looking other more anticipated dramas*. Strangely, when I was tuning in watching its every episode, I did really enjoy it. And after I finished it, I felt satisfied and did have something to say about it. The last means the drama evokes something within me, right? 😃 Less, I just walked away and had nothing to say.
Action is not my favorite genre that maybe the reason behind the slow burning. I like romance but the romance between Kim Je-ha and Anna is left to be desired. I thought their romance should be The central romance. But... The drama is about action scenes and political maneuvers. And the romance is felt like a slap-stick. What are you gonna do about K drama without its romance?

The story is around a couple powerhouse consisted Choi Yoo-jin (Song Yoo-nah), a daughter of a chaebol family and Jang Se-joon (Cho Seung-ha), an assemblyman who running for president position.  Jang Se-joon started his career as a young, smart, and promising politician. He had a relationship with a famous beautiful actress named Uhm Hye-rin. One day, she left him to marry a movie director without knowing she is pregnant with Jang Se-joon's baby. That baby later then is named Anna (Im Yoo-na).

Left by Uhm Hye-rin, Jang Se-joon met Choi Yoo-jin. (Or it is the reason why Uhm Hye-rin left him, I can't be sure). He saw the opportunity in marrying Choi Yoo-jin, a chaebol's daughter. He thought it would bring advantages to his political career if he got a backup from chaebol family. Then he pursued her and tried to make her falling in love with him. Success he did. She fell in love with the smart charismatic politician, Jang Se-joon, so deeply in love, she doesn't mind to be cut off from her father fortune to get married with him. She is adamant to leave her family to live with him against her father’s will. Perhaps her father knew that Jang Se-joon only married her for her money and her family position. But she knows it a little too late. Uhm Hye-rin came back to reclaim Jang Se-joon's love with his daughter in hand.
Despite the family cut off, Choi Yoo-jin's father could not allow his daughter suffered knowing her choice is wrong after all. And her sacrifice for Jang Se-joon became a bunch of nothingness when he actually has a child out of wedlock and there's probability the young Jang Se-joon would leave his daughter for the beautiful actress. He could not let that happens to his precious daughter. So he sent his underling to kill Uhm Hye-rin despite his daughter's disapproval.

Now, uhm Hye-rin is dead, it changes everything. Choi Yoo-jin feels guilty about it, about how she chould have prevented her death, but she couldn't and somehow she feels glad that she is dead less, Jang Se-joon would leave her. True to her character or she or just her father's daughter, Choi Yoo-jin still wants to prove to her father that even she made a mistake about leaving her family for Jang Se-joon, she will fix it, she will make her sacrifice worth something by making Jang Se-joon not just an assemblyman but also the president of South Korea, which is more than her father could ever achieve.
To make that happen, she has to calm Uhm Hye-rin's scandal down. Jang Se-joon's image has to keep pristine, though she realizes he is not the man she imagines she would fall in love with and would leave the world if she has to. Anna existence has to remain a secret but she can't make Anna disappear either or Jang Se-joon would leave her. Or she thought he would leave her. Still a couple in public eyes as she wants them to be, Choi Yoo-jin and Jang Se-joon grows distance apart.

Choi Yoo-jin threatens Jang Se-joon that if he leaves her, she will kill Anna like the way, she says she killed Uhm Hye-rin. She raises Anna, wrapped under her arms, her where about is not known by public or her father. She hires a security company, JSS under which Kim Je-ha a.k.a K2 (Ji Chang-wook)  work, to make sure Anna completely save from publication, and away from her father, Jang Se-joon. She also needs JSS to protect her from her step brother, Choi Sung-won (Lee Jung-jin) from different mother who still brawling over more money. Yeah, one thing a chaebol can't do is keep his pants on. He envies his sister who can fight her way to marry the love of her life, while he must marry a woman he doesn't love for the sake of family business. Lol, it is always greener on the other side, have you not learned that in school?

Anna meets Kim Je-ha through Choi Yoo-jin. Their relationship grows more than just between a protectee and a bodyguard. Choi Yoo-jin sees Kim Je-ha as a friend who she can trust in character and ability to protect her and to control Anna. I don't know why people think there is a love rivalry between Anna and Choi Yoo-jin over K2. I think Anna wants to keep K2 as a lover and Choi Yoo-jin wants to keep K2 as a friend who can see through her, not think her as selfish, evil, sly fox. More than being loved, more people want to be understood. I think that what Choi Yoo-jin finds in K2. Relationship between a man and a woman is not always on romance mode. Losing that kind of friend is just as sad and excruciating as losing a lover.

Anna and K2 romance feels so force. I don't know whether I can't correlate Anna character or Yoo-na's acting. Anna is just this pretty, fragile girl who needs to be protected by anyone, act like angel who has done nothing wrong and charging other people for what happens to her life. Ha, ha, ha I'm being jealous bitch here or it is the advantage of being pretty, all you have to do is being kind 😛 leave other people to do the dirty work.

And I got to love Choi Yoo-jin's character. I never think she is evil; she just does what the situation needs her to do. I do think she sometimes self-centered, think ONLY her life that is pitiful and desperate. Well if you only have yourself to be dependent on and trust for such a long time, something just can't be helped, being self-centered. Though being hurt doesn't give you right to hurt anybody else 😛 I love her for being not flawless and at least she Does something to fix her life than just blame everybody else.

Although the romance between Anna and K2 which is intended to be the center romance of the drama, I was rooting for romance between Choi Yoo-jin and Jang Se-joon. Lol. Anna and Kim Je-ha have their fair share of chemistry but it doesn't spark. But every time Choi Yoo-jin and Jang Se-joon share the same screen, the chemistry is electrified, and sparks, so intense. I cannot unseen. And it is in the blurred line between hate, longing, admiration and tampered love. It is the thing why I think that the feeling that Choi Yoo-jin has toward Kim Je-ha is not the kind of romantic love, she has had that kind of feeling already which is not for Kim Je-ha but for Jang Se-joon. Some say you can fall in love more than once in a life time, but you cannot have the same kind of love twice. At the end, swear God, why can Choi Yoo-jin and Jang Se-joon reconcile, work their powerhouse up, and grow old together? Should I refer them to Lee Jae-in and Kim Da-hyun for counseling on how to be lovey-dovey couple? 😄😄😃

Album: The K2 OST Part 3
Singer: Yoona

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now I'm found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'twas Grace that taught,
my heart to fear.
And grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear,
the hour I first believed.
