Lee Young-ae's Ethereal Beauty Goes to Saimdang's Light Diary

Yes I love photoshoot with theme, good props, costumes, etc. But some models do not need all that stuff to light up the shoots. This is one of the examples. Lee Young-ae is one of those models. I thought it was just a mere occasions, but as times go, it is felt like every time she just makes it so.

Look at this photoshoot. The dresses (Valentino) are not too much, not too glamorous, or not too sexy, but they are elegant. The background is just plain grey-white or black backdrop. The illustration is kept minimal to nothing, even if it is there (those white soaring flying birds). It only enhances the ethereal atmosphere that she brought around her. The pictures only contain her and the dress, but you can’t help being captured by her. Marvelous!

In recent years, after she is married and had gone to hiatus for thirteen years to raise her twin children, I think lee Young-ae seems to choose safe, matrimony dresses, I don’t know why. She is ageless, just like the way she is thirteen years ago. So why the style? Look at her fashion (Gucci) at the recent Saimdang’s Light Diary press conference and all the costumes she adorns in the drama itself. They are so ajjumaish. Can’t hide the ethereal beauty of Lee Young-ae though. 😊

Saimdang’s rating two episodes was good but dropped for notable numbers for episode four and five. I watched the first two episodes, I thought though it is not great but promising. It is perhaps a new latest trend in K drama landscape to have a sageuk part and modern year part collided into one drama. Since it holds a premise that Saimdang is an accomplished poet and painter, I hope the drama can show it to us through beautiful paintings and drawings gracing scenes in the drama like the way they show in The Painter of The Wind. Yes somewhat the drama looks aged, perhaps from the scenes’ color saturation? Although it is not Yoon Seok-ho’s drama but Saimdang has Yoon Sang-ho who had directed Bride of The Century that I remember it does have beautiful cinematography. I hope Saimdang will have the same scene mood. Please Drama don’t fail me!

I think I'll continue watch Saimdang’s Light Diary if only to prove the modern Lee Young-ae will have a passionate noona romance with the young, Chinese language teacher Yang Sejong. Ha, ha, ha.
