When the first time I read the news that Urban Zakapa 어반자카파 releasing a single titled Just A Feeling , I thought Urban Zakapa was going to do a cover of Breeze’s Just A Feeling:

It’s just a feeling I have
I mean huh that song is a classic slow rock song with falsetto background vocal singing the chorus. Urban Zakapa’s music is R&B. Although their vocal range is quite wide, it matches perfectly for R&B song. In other word, I was intrigued J But oh well, it is not Breeze’s Just A Feeling that they cover. It is S.E.S’ Just A Feeling. S.E.S (Sea Eugene Shoo) is a Korean girl group that was popular in 90’s (Yes, I just read that fact J) and consisted of 3 members (바다 (Bada means sea),유진 (Eugene), 슈 (Shoo)). S.E.S formed in 1997 and disbanded in 2002. If I’m asked to describe how 90’s pop music sound like. I will say: Listen to S.E.S’ Just A Feeling and that’s how 90’s pop music sound s like. Bring it on the 90ties!
This single is part of Daum music project ‘Tribute90’, a joint project between Daum music and five indie record labels. The premise of this project is to bring back the Korean 90’s music scene with new perspective. And for realization, they make recent popular indie bands to sing song from 90’s. They will release a studio version song accompanied by a live version music video, one by one.
In the recent years of the last decade, I think acoustic music was gaining its place, more and more. And R&B is quite in hype now. No wonder they choose Urban Zakapa as one of the indie band. Urban Zakapa sing S.E.S’ Just A Feeling in R&B style with rich acoustic sound compared to the original version that tends to be more synthetic. I’m curious to know the other indie record labels and indie bands that will be joined Fluxus and Urban Zakapa in ‘Tribute90’ project. This year is a good year for various artist compilation album, ne?
